Christmas market to appear at popular Reading nightlife venue and beer garden this weekend

A popular Reading entertainment venue is hosting a Christmas market this weekend. The event will take place at Blue Collar Corner, on Hosier Street, near Broad Street Mall.

The market will be open on Saturday (November 25) and Sunday (November 26) with a variety of offerings to enjoy. The venue will remain open between 11am and 4pm on both days with its one bar, two floors and four kitchens assisted by a number of stalls.

Among the offerings include Christmas stalls, street food, music, mulled drinks, craft beer and more. The event is being organised in collaboration with several independent businesses which will open their own stalls at the market.

The independent businesses and markets include Reading’s Indie Market, Reading Vintage Flea Market, Anonymous Coffee and Double Barrelled Brewery. Sonning Flowers, who previously provided the decorations for Blue Collar Corner, have now added Christmas decorations to the site to give it a more festive feel.

The company will also be offering DIY Christmas wreath-making kits and tickets to wreath-making workshops. Several extra food stalls will also be provided outside the venue to attract and cater for the larger audience.

To keep the mood light, musical performances will also take place including from The Hub’s vocal group, The Hubphonics, and a special DJ set. All this will be taking place in the Blue Collar Corner venue which was transformed into a disused yard to a popular nightlife venue in 2022.

The venue has achieved popularity in the year since and, in a BerkshireLive poll, Blue Collar Corner was named the best beer garden in Berkshire. Over the winter months, the beer garden is covered and heaters are provided to transform the former industrial site into a cosy venue.

Speaking of the new Christmas market, Glen Dinning of Blue Collar Corner said: “Working together with other local independents has always been firmly at the heart of Blue Collar. So we couldn’t think of a better way to start the Christmas season than with a big Christmas Market showcasing many of the friends we collaborate with.”
