Two arrested after car set on fire on driveway of Tilehurst house

Two people have been arrested after a car parked on the driveway of a house in Tilehurst was set on fire. The flames spread to the front of the home in Addiscombe Chase.

Police were called out and firefighters from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire. It happened between 10.30pm and 10.40pm on Tuesday, October 17.

Thames Valley Police said nobody was injured in the incident. Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

A man in his forties from Reading was arrested on suspicion of arson and using a motor vehicle without insurance. A man in his thirties from Tilehurst was also arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. Both have been released on bail.

Police said in an appeal for information: “Anyone with CCTV cameras in the area or any drivers with a dash-cam who were in the area around the time should check their recordings in case it has captured something that could assist our investigation.
